It’s time for ANOTHER North County Board Meeting event, this time a mixer to support a local surf owned business. From the masterminds that brought you Surfhouse, we give you…. Coffee Coffee! This year we’ll be benefitting Foster the Earth, an organization dedicated to helping vulnerable children and young adults in the foster care system through exposure to the great outdoors. If you’re an old timer in North County, you probably remember the Longboard Grotto in Leucadia and all the quirky items they sold. The building has since been brought up to code and changed hands a few times, but now it’s a great collection of businesses called Coffee Coffee, Bing Surfboards, and the site of our next North County Board Meeting business mixer… Duck Foot Brewing! Longboard Grotto may be gone, but the quirkiness still lives in Duck Foot. If one word was to describe them, it would have to be… random? That word encompasses their brewing style, humor, and design style; you’ll get a sense of that when you see their beer names and cans. And if you haven’t been to a NCBM Biz Mixer, it’s a great way to connect our community to a local surf run company. Time to break out that beach cruiser! As you’ve probably seen this summer, parking at the beach has been BRUTAL. That’s where Electra Bicycles come in handy. Throw your board on the surf rack, head down the street to your local break, and get front row parking while others drive around for hours looking for a spot. If you’re not part of the bike brigade yet, here’s your chance: Come join the North County Board Meeting at the new Trek retail location in downtown Encinitas at 6 PM on Thursday, August 24th and see Electra Bicycle’s store within a store concept. It’s one of the cooler shops you’ll see in north county, so head over to grab a bite, enjoy a cold one, and hear about the latest bikes Electra has to offer. You’ve probably seen their new building in the heart of downtown Encinitas- it’s the one with the big image of customer Rob Machado on the window. We are officially announcing our 5th Annual Golf Tournament benefiting the Challenged Athletes Foundation! The CAF provides physically challenged people with the tools they need to pursue active and healthy lifestyles and we are honored to support them this year. Being held at Goat Hill Park in Oceanside again, this year we’re benefiting the Mitchell Thorp Foundation, an organization that supports families whose children suffer from life threatening illnesses, diseases, and disorders. We’re filling up quickly and only have a few spots left to play or sponsor a hole. And since this is a charitable event, we hope you understand that it’s ‘1st come, 1st serve’. Join us Wednesday, February 7th for our next mixer at another neighborhood owned/surf owned business. This time at Pandora’s Pizza in Leucadia from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. 

Come on down and hear the story of how two local families saw that Lecuadia was missing a local pizza spot and took matters into their own hands by creating a restaurant that is beach casual, creative, slightly unpredictable, and thankfully-not the norm. We’ll be meeting upstairs in the ‘SUPERbrand’ themed room for some slices of pie, a couple cold ones, and of course a little surf talk with your community.

Hi everyone. I can’t believe our 3rd Annual Holiday Party is just around the corner. Come on down to Priority Public House next Tuesday, December 5th at 5 PM and support your community. Fellow surfer Brian McBride is kind enough to host us again and we ask that you bring a canned or boxed food to the event if you can. We’ll be donating it to families in need this holiday season. Make sure to get there early as we’ve filled up quickly in year’s past.  Also wanted to say thanks to everyone that came to the SUPERbranded X NCBM party November 16th. We received well over 100 toys for the Community Resource Center as well as a new bike from Electra!

You’ve probably seen Surfhouse Adventures by now while visiting Surfy Surfy and Coffee Coffee. Owned by long time Encinitas surf brothers Nikki and Sander Harth, they decided the coastal strip needed a cool motel for visitors and locals alike. So Surfhouse Adventures was born. They are kind enough to host our next mixer on Thursday, July 20th from 6-8 PM. Come on down to hear their story, grab a drink compliments of Soto Sake, and find out why you need to book your next staycation or sales meeting here.

If you haven’t noticed recently, there’s been quite the boom of new businesses along the coast in North County. Lots of restaurants, retail, office space, you name it.

One such business is clothing brand Vuori. Whether you surf, do yoga, or just need to get outside and take a breath of fresh air, Vuori is the next evolution in apparel.

Started by action sports legend Chris Miller and friends, the brand has set up roots in Encinitas and taken off nationally. They have been kind enough to open their doors on Wednesday, October 4th to the North County Board Meeting for our next mixer.

Come meet us at 6:15 PM in downtown Encinitas to hear their story, meet up with the group, and grab a beer.

Save the date! It’s time again for the North County Board Meeting’s 3rd Annual Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament benefit’s Urban Surf 4 Kids, a unique outreach organization that works with orphan and foster kids. Using water sports as a catalyst, Urban Surf 4 Kids teaches them how to first have fun and then give back to their communities and neighborhoods through local service projects.

Cost is just $80 to play in the tournament and includes lunch. And if you’d really like to contribute to a great cause, why not a hole sponsorship? At an inexpensive $100, it’s a great way to promote your company and give back to the community at the same time.

So come on out and join us on Friday, May 26th. Doesn’t matter if you’re a pro golfer or a hack- it’s all for a good cause- and do we really need to twist your arm to blow off a Friday and have some beers?
